Java WorldWind is the next big step for GeoWeb
A bold statement? Yes indeed, but I'm sure here. :)
I think Java WorldWind has a huge potential to bring the GeoWeb to a next generation.
I talk about tight integration of Virtual Globes into Websites. Google released a browser plugin for GoogleEarth, its nice but not platfrom independent nor opensource. And there is VirtualEarth, which also based on closed source platform dependent browser plugins with almost no custumization ability. Silverlight, Flex and the like are scriptable, far not customizable like Java, wich gives you all the power of a complete computer programming language. JavaWorldWind is all that. And the support for Next Generation Applet Java Plug-in Technology provides possibilities for very tight integration into standart apache hosted websites.
Wanna see JWW in action? Here you go:

I think you guys know now where I am to find in the next time.
My Dipl. thesis - I will finish this summer - will tell you more about it. ;)
